Katie’s Notebook: August 28, 2024
Do you hear that? It’s the sweet sound of silence. School started back this week! We kicked off the school year with some chocolate chip pancakes, pictures with the neighborhood kids, and a steamy walk to school. #humdity. Starbucks is starting to advertise their pumpkin spice lattes but I just can’t get into those vibes while it is hitting 90 degrees in North Carolina. September 15th is my personal start date for all things fall. Who knows, maybe I’ll dig into my favorite spiced drinks and treats in the next issue of Katie’s Notebook. WHO KNOWS?! You’ll just have to check your inbox in a few weeks. Can you live with this level of excitement?!
I have some fun reads for you in this issue. Let’s dig in, shall we?
GE HealthCare sets sights on imaging for women’s health. You might be shocked that GE announced something unrelated to AI! According to Healthcare Brew, “The Chicago-based medical device company is teaming up with the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine to study MRI protocols for pelvic conditions commonly experienced by women, like endometriosis and ovarian cancer, and developing educational resources to support clinicians.” Considering that a common refrain among women’s healthcare advocates is that providers don’t know enough about conditions affecting female bodies, this looks like a great area to put some effort. 👏 👏 👏
This women’s teen sex talk is #GOALS. Also you can buy her powerpoint on Etsy! 🖥️
I had fun dusting off the blog and writing a service journalism piece on my favorite natural deodorant. It dives into why I started looking for a new deo and why Necessarie’s The Deodorant Gel is my ride or die. The company is running a 20% off promotion through Sept 2. I just restocked! 😀
I enjoyed this piece about channeling the best of back to school vibes as an adult. I’ll probably be working through all 11 suggestions. One of the easiest is to refresh your desk supplies and have my eyes on this Rifle Paper notebook to try to get me back into daily journaling.
If you also feel overwhelmed by the amount of healthcare AI news is out there, then check out the health ai partnership. Their mission is to empower healthcare professionals to use AI effectively, safely, and equitably through community-informed up-to-date standards. The curated resources are helpful and everything is organized really well! I bookmarked that tab for future reference.
That’s all for this issue. As always, I appreciate you taking a few minutes to read my thoughts.
